Fashion, special events, and other types of shoots are priced differently. Please contact me for more info.
*** Payment Policies ***
**Payments: I do accept cash, checks, and credit cards through Paypal. With credit cards, there is an additional 3% fee added to the total to cover the costs that Paypal charges me. Checks need to clear before you receive your photos on a disk - usually within 48 hours.
**Deposit: There is a 50% non-refundable deposit due at the time of scheduling. Of course, I'll give you a receipt.
**Reschedule a shoot: Not a problem if done up to 7 days before your scheduled shoot day. Giving me 48 hours notice to reschedule will add another $20.00 to your total. Less than 48 hour notice will add $50 to your total.
**Cancellations: You many cancel the shoot completely, but sadly you will lose your deposit. If you cancel on the same day or forget to show up, you'll be charged the remaining balance.
Questions & Answers:
· "I heard that Digital shots aren't that great compared to film. Is this true?"
This question is so old-school, but it's fun to answer because I resisted for a long time going digital for that same belief - that digital didn't compare to film. Now-a-days, I feel that digital has made great progress and its results are in most cases equivalent to film. The Nikon Digital Camera I use has done a great job, plus has made the process easier for everyone involved. But, just like the warning I give for film, if you take the disk in to a discount one-hour photo lab for prints, you'll get lousy results. I will work with you in picking out a lab that will make your shots look awesome.
· "Where do you do your photo shoots?"
I do all photo shoots on location in the Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area. Occasionally, I will use an indoor studio for shoots - depending on the project and budget.
· "Do you shoot in black and white or color?"
I have no preference. When using film, I love shooting with both. However, the project might require me to shoot with one type of film or the other. So this is decided on an individual basis. And now that I shoot in digital, any color shot can easily be converted to black and white, sepia, or other elegant tones as well.
· "What's the minimum number of rolls that we can shoot?"
There is no minimum
and no maximum either. Each film roll has 36 exposures. I don't suggest more than two changes of clothing per roll because by changing clothes more often, you really limit yourself to doing your best in each outfit.
· "Will you give me some advice on what to wear and what to bring?"
Of course! Once we book our shoot date, I will make sure to be as detailed with clothing tips, hair and make-up (if doing it yourself), posing for the camera, etc. Also fill you in on the do's and prefer not's on our big day!
· "What about hair and make-up?"
It is always recommended so everything comes out flawless. I do have referrals to affordable, wonderful, and talented hair and make-up artist. Sometimes, though, people do prefer to do the hair and make-up themselves. That is fine too and I will work on making sure it all looks great for the shots. Just be aware that by having someone else do your hair and make-up, it takes the pressure off of you and you can focus more on getting amazing shots!
· "If I go out drinking the night before and I look horrible in the pictures, will you give me my money back?"
Of course...not. But I do guarantee my work. If there is an error with my work (i.e. forgetting to load film into the camera, memory card gets corrupted, lens cap issues, or lighting), then we'll schedule a reshoot. Otherwise, it will be considered your responsibility if, for example, you don't bring makeup to the shoot and you hate the fact that your blemishes showed up on the photo. Or you bring wardrobe that I suggested not to bring and it looks clownish in the photos. Or you run late and I have to cut our shoot short because we ran out of time... Don't worry though - I haven't been asked to do a reshoot. Plus, I will make sure you look your best at the shoot.
· "Are you mean and grumpy?"
No, I'm not mean and grumpy. Just the opposite. Photography is my passion so I use patience and care for each photo I take. I like making the shoots fun and non-intimidating. Also, I don't just shoot the pictures to get the session over with. If I don't see the photo, I don't take it. Plus, I love to have fun on the shoots. Everyone having a good time is what I strive for. Clients walk away at the end of the day feeling as if they've been hanging out with a friend who just happens to be a photographer. That's great to hear... But, wait, I don't know what this question has to do with rates!
As you can see, there are different factors that can influence the final price of the photo shoot. E-mail me with your project and I can be more specific with you. Look forward to shooting with you!
